La Conner Tote

You know those charm packs that you keep hoarding? Well, it's time to break them out and use them. Today I am sharing my bag that I made using the La Conner Tote pattern from Jeri Brandvig. You can find the free tutorial on YouTube. The pattern calls for 4" squares, but I just didn't want to cut down all the charm squares plus I need a new beach bag.

New Project

Hello! If you follow me on Instagram then you've seen these photos of my new project. I have been hoarding these fabrics for a while and it was time to use them up. This fabric is from Moda Fabrics called Rooftop Garden.

Cloth Napkins

There are times when you just want to make something quick. I suppose this is one of those times. Napkins are always a fun make.

Hope Chest Pillow

I made a pillow to practice my free motion quilting and to use up some fabrics that have been in my stash for quite a long time. I love this Hope Chest block from A Quilting Life. I decided that a pillow is small enough for me to practice and I can complete the project in a short amount of time.

Double the Fun Pouches

I've been keeping this mum for a while. I was asked by Sandie over at Crazy 'Bout Quilts to test her new pattern called "Double the Fun" zipper pouch. The pattern includes easy to follow instructions for two zippered pouches and two different techniques for the bottom gussets. The pattern calls for mini charm packs with a bit of yardage for the rest of the pouches.

Zip Pouches

Hello Monday and hello to something new! I have been thinking about creating a weekly link up for some time. I supposed now is a perfect time to start. I hope you'll join me and link up your handmade projects. 

Whenever I am not quilting, I like to whip up something small that I can finish quickly. Usually those end up being zippered pouches or a small bag. I was wanting to try out some burlap bags and found some of these cute polka dot burlap prints to use.

Embroidered Pincushion

Recently I bought an embroidery machine because Amazon had such an amazing deal I couldn't resist. I had already bought DD an embroidery/sewing combo so didn't really need to buy another one but with an Amazon coupon and the one day deal I went for it. As it turned out, Caroline, at SewCanShe was designing some embroidery patterns and needed testers. 

Mini Zip Pouch

I was able to take a day off from schoolwork to sew. It took all day because I had a design in mind for an embroidery pattern I was testing for a designer, which I will talk all about tomorrow. Be sure to check back to see what I made. Along the lines of making the original embroidery design, I wanted to make something else. 

Mini Bolt Quilt

I recently saw a fun tutorial over at Caroline's blog called Mini Bolt by Down Grapevine Lane and figured it would be fun to make. I pulled out some really vintage Robyn Pandolph fabrics to use. These were leftover scraps that I had when my girls and I made our Memory Quilt many years ago.

One Monthly Goal Finish

My OMG (one monthly goal) project was supposed to be a quick one to finish but I decided to change things up a bit as I went along. I was only going to make a couple of zipper pouches out of the fabrics that I had already cut, but then I added some vegan leather to it and as I went along and writing things down for the pattern I turned them into bags.

Christmas Gift

This year I had plans to finish a quilt and make three other things for Christmas gifts but time got away from me. I however did manage to whip up this cute mushroom zipper pouch. My DD was wanting a new pouch for her art supplies when she starts school for the Spring semester. In making this pouch I used 

 

Scrappy Projects

 Recently I won this amazing prize package from the scrap quilt challenge hosted by Persimon Dreams. I thought I was only receiving the scrap package from Maddie Kertay but she included everything you see in the photo. This was such a generous package I couldn't believe it when I opened it. Thank you Maddie!

Pincushion Tutorial and a Giveaway

This is a quick and easy tutorial to use up your scraps. Although it is easy, I like lots of visual aid so this post is picture heavy. I used leftover pieces of a charm pack from Bonnie and Camille called Hello Darling from a mini quilt project but you can use any scraps laying around. I've never had any staining problems using the ground walnut shells. You could always use batting to line the backing if you want to make sure it doesn't stain your fabrics.

New Sewing Projects

Hello! It's been a long time. I am so happy when I get to do something sewing related these days. I hope to be able to do more of it on a steady basis. Up first is this super quick sewing project, an infinity scarf.

Fabric Baskets

These baskets are a snap to put together. I decided on how big I would like to make them and did a sample on muslin to make sure I got it right. These are a good size for organizing fabrics or sewing supplies. I love these prints from Dena Designs London collection paired with solids.

Zipper Pouch and a Pincushion

I love making pouches and accessories. This was for my swap partner. I also included small treats that I forgot to take a picture of.  I made three of these pincushions, one was for me to keep and two were for swaps I joined.

This zippered pouch was fun to put together with the ruffles. I love ruffles. They add a fun touch to bags and accessories.  I also made a key fob with some small strips of fabric I had left over from other projects. This was a lot of florals but my partner says she loves floral prints. This was a lot of sewing for me but I am so glad to have a chance to sit down and sew. I hope you are having fun sewing and shopping this Christmas season. There is nothing like a handmade Christmas.

Sewing Machine Cover

This is my second year joining Cheryll for the Santa Sack Swap. The participants were to make each other 6 gifts. One of those gifts had to be a sack, bag or stocking. My partner and I decided to do something different and make each other a sewing machine cover.

Mini Swap Quilt

I don't participate in swaps often but sometimes I just need something to get me sewing due to my busy schedule. I joined Schnitzel and Boo's mini quilt swap on Instagram and let me say, it was so much fun. I might have to do it again. These are the beautiful items that I received from my partner.

Those pincushions are so pretty. How fun are those fruit ones? I also have a needle book which I really needed but never got around to making. The hexagon piecing is awesome. 

Valentine Coasters

Quick post today. I pulled out my red scraps to make these Valentine coasters. They were really quick and easy to put together. After I added ruffles for one, I decided it wasn't going to happen with the second one. Rick racks would have been great for the second one but I wanted to use up some scraps and make the project quickly.

Christmas Stockings

This year my goal was to make new stockings for my family. I was on a roll then I got sentimental about our old ones so I didn't finish them until after Christmas. They will definitely be used for next year for sure.
