Christmas Gift

This year I had plans to finish a quilt and make three other things for Christmas gifts but time got away from me. I however did manage to whip up this cute mushroom zipper pouch. My DD was wanting a new pouch for her art supplies when she starts school for the Spring semester. In making this pouch I used

a waterproof lining so she can easily wipe it clean. She has a habit of just putting her wet paintbrushes directly into her pouch when class is over. This will make it easy for her to keep her bag dry and clean up the pouch when she gets home. I also went for the leather bottom to make the pouch more durable since she will be using it a lot. If you're looking for this fabric, it's from Dear Stella and the collection is called Wildwood. My DD loves mushroom prints and I hunted high and low for this one. It's fun and whimsical just how she likes it.

The only thing I really really wanted was a machine that would sew through pretty much anything. I went to Sew Hut and the owner, Linda was so kind to let me test it out with the materials I brought along and the machine just sewed everything like butter. Santa and his elves hid the box pretty well because I didn't see it until Christmas morning. I have it all set up but I need to do some re-arranging so that DD's sewing/embroidery machine can stay out for us to use when we need to embroider something. I can't wait to play with my new toy! I hope Santa brought you everything on your wish list.

Oh wow! You must have been a very good girl because Santa was certainly nice to you. Congratulations on your new toy.

I love the zippered pouch. The plastic lining and leather bottom were smart choices.
