Alice In Wonderland White Rabbit Costume

It's been quite a busy but fun weekend. I managed to pull this White Rabbit costume together in one day, just in time for our church's annual Halloween party. This costume is the most challenging one that I've done.

Denim Dress

Hello Monday! Today I have a special sewing project to share. DD has been learning how to draft sewing patterns. One of the projects she needed to draft was a dress pattern. These are some of the pieces she did.

Skirts For Charity

This is my final skirt count for Skirting the Issue. I made a total of 8 skirts. These fabrics were all from my stash. I am so happy to use up fabric for a great cause.

Skirts For A Cause

Hello! Today instead of quilting I decided to pull out fabrics in my stash to do some charity sewing. I just needed a little push from the awesome gals over at Simple Simon and Co to get going. I made sure to use up as much of each print I pulled as I can. These are really basic skirts and easy to put together. I cut enough for eight skirts. I managed to make two of these skirts with one yard of fabric. These skirts are all size 4.

New Sewing Projects

Hello! It's been a long time. I am so happy when I get to do something sewing related these days. I hope to be able to do more of it on a steady basis. Up first is this super quick sewing project, an infinity scarf.

WIP...Shirt

I have been squeezing in a bit of time here and there to work on this shirt. The pattern is by New Look #6232. At first it was pretty easy to just mark all the darts and pleats then sew the shirt together until I got to the front plackets and sleeve plackets.

Beautiful Dreamer Cardigan

I don't know if you would call this a work in progress (WIP) since I started sewing this cardigan last night (Tuesday) and finished it today (Wed). I bought this knit fabric to make a tshirt not realizing that it has a ton of holes in the design until I got home and actually opened up the fabric to look at it. Since it's lightweight I thought it would be a nice Summer cardigan for cool nights.

Esme Top Finish

I am loving making this Esme Top from Sew Liberated. I do have to make minor adjustments to it but it's such a fun pattern and well worth it to make. My daughter chose this fun print from Cloud 9 Fabrics that was already in my stash.

Esme Top Take 2

My daughter saw the Esme top pattern and asked me to make her one. I was determined to use fabrics from my stash and I happened to have this orange print from Cloud 9 Fabrics that she loves. On this top I actually made the buttonholes as soon as I attached the bib to the bodice instead of waiting until the end to do it. When the top is done, I only need to sew on the buttons.

Esme Top Finish

WOW!!! It seems like you all loved the striped shirt in the previous post. I've got hundreds of views from it. Thank you so much for stopping by!
Onto the Esme top from Sew Liberated. I am so happy to finish it today. The pattern was quite simple. I have some tips to help make it easier for those who would like to give this pattern a try. Please note that all opinions are my own. I am not paid to review this pattern. I bought it for my own use.

WIP...Shirt

I've finally finished this garment. I have done buttons before but only one at a time so this was definitely a challenge, but once I got going it was actually quite fun. To recap on this shirt, I used this stripe print from Sarah Jane Studios. I believe this line is retired, but I am sure you can still find them in various online shops. I also added a red Kona solid for the collar to give it a contrasting look and break up the stripes.

WIP...Scrappy Mountain Majesties

I was not going to start any new quilt projects since the goal was to finish my quilt tops then along comes graduation. This is going to someone special. He knows he's getting a handmade gift but doesn't know what it is. This is the first quilt that I've made for him so hopefully he likes these bright colors.

WIP...Adult Garment

I am posting this WIP a day early while I get the chance. I haven't shared much when it comes to garment sewing since I share a lot more of my quilting on this blog. I started sewing in Home Ec which seems like eons ago. I remember the first shirt I had ever sewn. It was a red and white striped top. I still have a picture of me wearing it. Since then I have sewn various clothing over the years.

Fashion Sewing

I have been doing some clothes sewing lately to add to my wardrobe. I love pairing knit fabrics with lace. It jazzes up a simple t-shirt instantly. I love the feel of these knits. They are so soft and drapes beautifully.

Lela Tunic

On a recent trip we picked up this Lela tunic and blouse pattern from Green Bee Patterns plus Tim Holtz fabrics to make it. I love how Tim Holtz designs his fabrics and crafting products, it's kind of a grungy vintage type of style. This pattern took me a few days to decide to go for it and start making a muslin sample. After I did that, it was time to start cutting into the real thing.

PJs

Our church's Young Women's group were making pjs and since there's not a lot of time at our daughter's activity, she brought her cut out pieces home to have me help her sew. They went shopping for fabric and let the girls choose the ones they would like, and this was the print she came home with. It's a brown and cream damask print from Joann's.

Halloween Hooded Cloak

As I was going through my blog and pinning my sewing projects to my Pinterest board so I have everything in one place to reference I remembered I had not shared this sewing project on this blog. I'll get back to the photo in just a bit. When I looked back at some  a lot of the pictures that I've taken over time for my blog I have to say that some of it was so bad. I was just pointing and shooting, didn't really play around with my camera to figure out all the settings. I know you can take very good pictures with a point and shoot camera but I was just happy taking pictures. Then one day my camera broke, replaced it, then it got stolen. A kind lady donated her extra one and that worked great until one day I splurged on a really good camera. I knew then that I had to really figure out how to use it and practice, practice, practice. I am still a long way from getting it right, but for now I am happy with my blog photos again.
Ok, back to this sewing project I did over Halloween last year for my daughter. She didn't want a whole new costume, just a cloak to add to her dress. She was wanting to wear her dress I made the previous year with a minor adjustment. We bought leather cording to replace the ribbons.

A New Dress

It's the end of the school year and our daughter is graduating from middle school. She asked me to make a dress for her so after a couple of days it's done. It normally doesn't take me long to make clothing but lately I get tired easily so I had to cut one day and sew the next. Now we'll have to go shopping to buy a little cropped type of sweater to go over it. She will be wearing it for the graduation then the dinner cruise in the evening. Can't wait for school to be out so I can get some much needed rest.

This is a close-up of the top. It has a bit of gathering in the center.
