WIP...Adult Garment

I am posting this WIP a day early while I get the chance. I haven't shared much when it comes to garment sewing since I share a lot more of my quilting on this blog. I started sewing in Home Ec which seems like eons ago. I remember the first shirt I had ever sewn. It was a red and white striped top. I still have a picture of me wearing it. Since then I have sewn various clothing over the years.

I did the most garment sewing when my girls were little. I made most of their church dresses and Halloween costumes. When they grew up, I started sewing for me. It was easier to sew and choose the fabrics I wanted then going to the store and be disappointed because things didn't fit right. I then got into quilting and garment sewing got put on the back burner. I just made a piece here and there or as needed. Lately I have enjoyed the whole process of sewing clothes again. I was going to make something for me but when I got measured, I got kind of depressed so I am sewing this shirt for my daughter instead. She picked out the pattern in a long time ago and last week she chose the fabric. Having to match up patterns is not my favorite thing to do, but this is what she wanted. Hopefully this will go a lot quicker than the child's dress I had to do.

Fabrics are from Michael Miller * Designer  is Sarah Jane Studios, Children At Play collection.

I don't like sewing clothing because I do all the work and when it's finished I might not like it on me. Of course, I don't like to shop for clothes either - too depressing. Sew, what to do! Good luck with your garment sewing.
