Red and White Scrap Quilt Complete

I am so happy to say that my DD's red and white scrap quilt is complete! I have so many projects that I would like to get done that I didn't want to delay finishing this quilt. I spent one night freemotion quilting this large quilt.

I thought if I did swirls it would go quicker, but it didn't. I used two layers of batting to make sure that it's going to keep DD warm since she will be going away to school soon and taking her quilt with her. We decided on a stripe print for the binding. Since she was busy with homework assignments, I went ahead and sewed the binding on. She was supposed to hand sew the binding to the backside but didn't get to it so I went ahead and finished it for her. School keeps us all so busy that leaving a project to finish later wasn't a very good idea.

Here's a close-up of the swirls after I was done with the quilting.

This is what the quilt looks like both front and back side with the striped binding. DD is very happy once I finished the binding. We will have to wash this quilt with some extra color catcher to make sure it doesn't bleed. There's way too much red to take a chance on not using enough color catcher. I am so proud of DD for persevering and putting this improv scrappy quilt together. Hopefully there will be more quilts in her future.
