WIP...Scrappy Mountain Majesties

I was not going to start any new quilt projects since the goal was to finish my quilt tops then along comes graduation. This is going to someone special. He knows he's getting a handmade gift but doesn't know what it is. This is the first quilt that I've made for him so hopefully he likes these bright colors.

I am using this line called Simple Marks by Malka Dubrawsky for Moda Fabrics. I don't know if this line is still available but I've had it for a while. I wanted something that I can make quickly and sort of looks scrappy. I found Bonnie Hunt's Scrappy Mountain Majesties pattern on her blog and was totally do-able in a short time.

I didn't feel like cutting down the layer cake squares since the pattern required some trimming anyways. I have some pretty 1 1/2" strips leftover after trimming. I will have to think of some small projects to use them up.

The shirt I've been working on is almost complete. I love the red contrast on the inside of the collar. I should be able to get it done sometime today. The only thing left to do on this shirt are buttons and hemming.

Your shirt looks so nice...you are great with garment sewing.

I LOVE that collection from Malka Dubrowsky... it will make a dynamite Scrappy Mountains quilt. I made a quilt like this in black & white prints and Kaffe Fassett fabrics... the brights will really make it pop!
