Mini Bolt Quilt

I recently saw a fun tutorial over at Caroline's blog called Mini Bolt by Down Grapevine Lane and figured it would be fun to make. I pulled out some really vintage Robyn Pandolph fabrics to use. These were leftover scraps that I had when my girls and I made our Memory Quilt many years ago.

This quilt takes no time to make and the instructions are super easy to follow. When it comes to the quilting I decided that I could use some practice with feathers and orange peels. Since the quilt was so small (9x12), I took a piece of tracing paper and outlined the quilt top so I can get a better idea of what the quilting will look like. Once I was happy with the quilting on the tracing paper, I just kind of went for it.

I used a light pink Aurifil thread #40. I did a lot of backtracking. I felt a bit rusty when it comes to machine quilting on my domestic sewing machine since I mostly quilt larger quilts on my longarm. I do love how it turned out and have a video to share with you on the quilting process. I also did a video to show my quilting process here and here. I also taped the binding portion and will share that as soon as I get the video edited. The binding is a part of this tutorial that I shared a few years ago. This is my favorite binding method.
