Quilting and a New Kitty

We are on Spring Break this week. I am determined to get some sewing done. I started working on my Good Night Irene quilt border that Terry hosted last year. These are the little bits of fabric left over from making the corner pieces. I squared them up to 1 1/2" half square triangles. I am still trying to decide what to make with them.

In other news, we rescued a kitten about two months ago. He is a ball of energy and full of mischief. We love him to death. He chews on paper including hubby's homework. He likes to dig into my sewing trash bin and pulls everything out everyday and we taught him how to play fetch. In the photo below, I was trying to work on my purple quilt and he climbed up to the table and placed himself inside my drawer that I need to pull fabric from. I normally don't let my kitties near my sewing stuff, but he's just too cute.

Spring Break also means hanging out with friends. I made dinner and had my friend and her family over. The guys did their thing and the kids played games. I taught my friend how to quilt. We started this project along time ago but never had the time to finish. This was the perfect opportunity to get these placemats done. I had her finish piecing the tops of the placemats. Then I gave her some options on finishing them. She decided on straight-line quilt and learned how to use some of the presser feet that came with her machine.

Since these are placemats, I taught her how to sew the binding on by machine. We got one down and four more to go. She was so happy she got to bring one of her finished placemats home at the end of the night (12 am). We are night owls :-)

Your kitten is adorable! When we got Oreo, he would pee in strings basket! I had to hide the basket until he was properly potty trained!
