Happy Friday! This is my first finish for 2015. One UFO down and a few more to go. I can't remember how I ended up with these fabrics, but I wanted to use them up. I thought some sort of floral appliqué would be nice. I drew the daisy freehand than cut them out to create a template for the appliqué block.
I then hand appliqué the petals and did a sort of satin stitch for the circle. It looks pretty random. I did free-motion quilting in a loopy pattern. I also quilted the petals so the back doesn't look like it's got a large empty space.
This is another close-up of the quilt. On another note. As I took this quilt off my machine, I noticed how thin it felt. I don't know what's going on with the batting, but I am not liking it. I used Warm 'n White because of the cotton batting. My older quilts have never felt like there's nothing in between it. I have to say that I am not going to be buying anymore batting from the Warm Co. It felt like they have made it thinner. I have also used Hobbs but those are really thin too. Does anyone have good results with other types of batting?

Darling applique quilt - that turned out great. Congrats on your first finish for 2015. I'm working on mine.
I do not what kind of batting I bought, it is not the warm and white, but I have a bolt and I was thinking it was very thin too. Mine is also cotton.
I love your quilt, the colors are beautiful!
