Yummy Cupcakes

The other day I was looking for a red velvet cupcake recipe that I could make without all that awful red food coloring. I don't usually eat beets, but I bought a can to use it for these cupcakes. It actually turned out pretty good and it looks nice and red. I brought these to share with some friends and they were gone by the time I was ready to go home.

Our daughter's teacher wanted the class to bring in a German treat to share for extra credit. We made our version of black forest cupcake. Our daughter didn't want the cherry on top so I made cherry sauce, drizzled it over the frosting and shaved some chocolate on top. There are cherries in the cupcake. This was so yummy that DD's friend said she wanted to take the four extra cupcakes home. Get this, when our 13 year old came home from school and saw the four I saved for us she asked if I bought it. I asked why she asked that and she said because it looks so pretty. So sweet :)

Enjoy your weekend!
