Life

Well, what can I say. Hubby and ds left to go camping with the boyscouts yesterday and everything that went wrong did. About 3 hours after they left, my computer got fried and I mean fried. I could smell burned wires and crackling noise then it was dead. I have programs on that computer that I use for work and now I can't update anything on my website or work on my stamps. I replaced the dead computer with hubby's but then it wouldn't connect to the internet no matter what I did. I am now on the old, old, old laptop that finally connected to the internet but doesn't allow me to do much. The memory is so little that I couldn't even put my word program on it. While I moved hubby's computer, the cabinet door came apart so my girls had to hold up the door while I fix it. Ugh... when it rains it pours. I won't be able to share any artwork with you until maybe Wed. afternoon.

Okay, on a happier note. My family and I had a great 4th of July. We were just going to stay home but our friends had a boat and they were going to take us over to Coronado to see the fireworks so we wouldn't have to fight traffic comming home. We spent the day having a nice picnic, went for rides on the boat and our kids loved the boat rides. Around 8 pm we packed up and got on the boat to go over to the bay to watch the fireworks. It was spectacular! After the fireworks display was done, we got back on the boat and went back to the park and went home. No traffic and stress free. It was a great day! How about you? How was your 4th of July?

Celebrate Your Day

In keeping with the 4th of July theme, I am participating in Kelly Jo's color chef challenge. The challenge is to use red, white and blue. I created this card using the balloons from the Gracie set and the sentiment from the Birthday Ella set. A portion of the sales from the Gracie set will go towards children's causes. I colored it in using coloring markers. The lines you see are from the way I colored the balloons. I sponged the edges of the white cardstock with red ink. I added a bow to the balloon strings with red waxy flax from CTMH. I also used the Swiss Dots embossing folder on the white cardstock.

Wishing you all a HaPpY 4th of July :)

Good Times

I think I have recovered from the grand opening. Since 4th of July is tomorrow, I would like to share with you Annie & Ollie from the By the Seashore set using a red, white and blue theme. Sparkle also made a card on her blog using red, white and blue. I started out using coloring pencils, but then I added a brown marker. I colored the sand with Kohi-Noor coloring pencils then I took a brown marker and went ofver it, it went on beautifully. I added a bit of brown to parts of the children's feet to resemble sand because their hands and feet cannot be completely clean when they are playing in the sand. I started out with a rectangle piece of cardstock and when I finished coloring the children in, I decided I wanted a circle element on the card so I started trimming them. I placed the blue circle dp in the Cuttlebug and embossed it using the Swirls folder. The brown paper you see behind it is chipboard I believe. I received some things in the mail and the chipboard was used to protect my goods so I cut it up and ran it through the Cuttlebug using the Swiss Dots folder. Nothing like good old recycling. I also pierced the corners using a piece of plastic canvas as a guide. I then popped the children on top of the blue dp using foam tape.

Sherrod Studio Grand Opening Day

Today is the day! Sherod Studio is open for business. I am releasing 4 new stamp sets on the Sherrod Studio blog and the website is open for you to shop. Check out the Sherrod Studio blog to see what I have in store for you.

I do have a card to share with you today. This is the cupcake from Ella's Birthday set. What's a birthday without cupcakes? There are more cupcakes in this set. On this cupcake, I stamped it with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored it in using a blending brush and ink. I also added stickles to make it sparkle and notice the sentiment above the cupcake? I bent it so it forms around the top of the cupcake. That's what's so great about clear stamps, not only can you see where you're stamping but you can bend it to whatever it is you would like.

Sneek Peek Day 2

Welcome to day 2 of Sherrod Studio's sneek peak. This is another image from the By the Seashore set. I had fun coloring this pail and shovel. I used Kohi-Noor pencils to color the pail, shovel and sand and blended it using baby oil and blending stumps. This is like looking out your window and seeing the beach, what more can one ask for? My dream is to live by the beach someday. I am loving the look of buttons and stitches on my card. I also added some swirls texture with my Cuttlebug to resemble the water and used a corner rounder to create the scallops.

Check out the design team's blog for more great artwork and leave a comment on one of the team's blog to win some blog candy.
